There are 128 presets. Preset 101-128 cannot be overwritten as they demonstrate each of the 28 algorithms. Preset 1-100 are user programmable and by copying one of the 28 fixed presets into one of these locations a start position with the chosen algorithm is easily achieved.

A small sized effect unit with great capabilities! It was top of the crop in the late 80's and it still copes with today's needs. I should know, I own FIVE of them! Great sound, no evident DIGITAL texture, lots of parameters, ease of use, ultra fast response to midi program change commands (something that plagues decades newer units, like the TC G-Major 2, for instance) , beautiful delay, flanger, chorus, phaser, reverb and pitch (not harmonizer) effects and all of this with the extra helpful feature of bulk dump/load, something you WILL NEED, since the only downside is that it consumes back up/storage batteries quite fast! One thing you should worry about is losing one of its input knobs, though. You really DO NOT WANT that! !! It happened to me and I had to pay 28 dollars in order to get them from Japan."
